Guilty of resisting 'a rest'

Last week was rough with a R.O.U.G.H!    We normally have a fairly solid nap routine around here which includes a morning and afternoon nap.  Sometimes these naps aren't as long as I would like, but usually they are pretty regular.  Every now and then Adella will refuse her morning nap - and by refuse I mean SCREAMING.  Sometimes she will cry herself to sleep after a few minutes, but I can tell when she just isn't going to give in.   Luckily this generally only happens a couple times a week and then we move on with normal life.  However, recently she went for nearly TWO WEEKS of resisting her morning nap (she took one on Monday finally HURRAY!).   Not only that, but often she wouldn't take her afternoon nap at the same time as Charlie - she would finally get so tired I could put her down late, but then she would wake up almost even more grumpy then before.   If we went out running errands, she would fall asleep because she was so tired, or if we went on walks.  While that's great and all, it doesn't help me to be able to do the things I need to - I mean, at some point I DO HAVE TO wash bottles, EAT something myself, clean LAUNDRY etc.

Even on the days when she would nap at the same time as Charlie she would sleep no longer than 40 minutes at a time.   Ugh.  It was awful.   Luckily at the same time Charlie became a super super napper.   He stopped constantly spitting his pacifier out and once it was in his mouth he never fussed (he only uses it for naps - Adella refuses it though she really likes to play with his if she can get her hands on it!.  His naps were almost always over an hour, and in the afternoon was usually closer to 2 hours.   We were able to easily transition him to his crib for naps during this time too.

So here she is, being her silly self while Mom tries to entertain her until Charlie wakes up.

She may look happy, but that's only because I'm entertaining her.  Also she eventually would get super grumpy because she was just so darn tired.   It was awful.   I don't know why she was having such a rough time napping, but I'm hoping we have got that little episode out of the way!

Sunday Fun Version 10.14.2012

Charlie and Adella pretty much force me to be up and ready for church early.   In fact if I am not at church 15 minutes early Adam has been known to call just to make sure everything is going OK!   So on this particular Sunday we headed outside for a little fun before church.  The weather was gorgeous and new clothes were being sported so we just had to get out!

This one picture sums up these guys personalities perfectly!

High chair!

Officially in high chairs now!  We had to move out of the other seats because our little Houdini's figured out to climb out (even with the tray on).

We got lucky and found matching wood high chairs on craigslist (less than $50 for both!).  One was pretty beat up - Adam completely stripped it, sanded it and re-stained it and it looks great now!

I'm a magician

I'm constantly amazed by what makes my babies happy.   For some reason toys are WAY more exciting when they are stacked on top of something else.   Toys on the floor?  Meh.   Toys on a box - MAGIC!!

Crazy visitors

Last week we had some fun visitors!  Ann and Fonree brought their kids over to play and swim.   Well, we were pretty sure they wouldn't swim but we cleaned the pool anyway.   But wouldn't you know despite the fact that it was maybe 80 degrees (that's pretty darn cool in AZ) they still got in!   And not only that, they got in TWICE!  Before and after lunch.  Crazy, crazy kids!
