31 Weeks!

OK, this picture was taken actually at about 30 1/2 weeks, but I am now 31 weeks.

Adam made me stand in front of the cactus, I think to prove how big I was.  Yes I am wider than a cactus!  

I went to the DR yesterday and I measure like I am 38 weeks if I was only having just one baby.  I am not sure what they do in a few weeks, will they really say I am measuring like I am 45 weeks?  HAHA. A week ago the babies weighed 3 lbs 6 oz and 3 lbs even (they are measuring right on track for weight).  So by now I am sure I have close to 7 lbs of baby in me!   

For those of you who might be wondering, I am not on bed rest and am still working.  The Dr keeps telling me how good I am doing, so she won't right me a get out of work note!    We are praying these babies stay put for another 5-6 weeks.   If they haven't come on their own by around 38, they'll induce me.   I try not to think of the fact that by then, I'll have around 15 lbs of baby in me!  YIKES!

I also randomly decided to change the hair up a bit a few weeks ago.   I guess that happens when you can no longer control your body, you take to things you can control.  So for the first time in 20 years I got bangs!  So far I am liking them all right most people seem to like them.  Its a little bit of a change, but change is fun sometimes!!

We're so excited for Elder and Sister Button to be coming home from their 18 month mission to Puerto Rico.  We were sad we didn't get to go visit them with the rest of the family, but hope that they will take us there someday to show us all the beautiful spots in those islands.    

We are very excited they will be here in time for our babies to be born, especially since they also had twins and will be used to the chaos they present.

A few projects

I've had this post in draft mode for weeks and forgot about it!  Here are a few projects I recently completed for friends having babies.

This first set is baby legs, a headband and a onesie with a ruffle butt and flower on the front.  I need to get on making a set for my little girl!

This is a blanket I made for my good friend Annie who just had her little boy!   Its a 'rag' quilt lined with super soft minky fabric.

Family Dinner!

Daniel was in town this weekend so we had a big family dinner!   I always have good intentions of taking pictures, but usually don't.  This time I made sure my camera was out, but when it came down to it, I made Alisa take most of the pictures!    We certainly had fun visiting and eating good food.

Brycen LOVES his uncles!  This was one of his calmer moments with Uncle Jordan, the rest of the time he was chasing Uncle Ike around trying to tackle him.   So fun!

 And this one, her outfit was so stinking cute!  The boots were killer!  I think Bristol is next in line for them, but I hope they find a way to our little girl someday too!  

 Those boots were definitely made for walking as that's just what she did!  I had such a hard time capturing a good photo cause she wouldn't hold still!

 After dinner Brycen found a container of muffins on the counter and wanted one.  Since they weren't exactly cupcakes and were made with pumpkin and no oil or butter or frosting, I figured it was OK.   But then he wanted another one!   I told him we were going to have donuts so he should wait for that.  He was super excited about donuts.....

And insisted on helping me make them.  He pulled a chair over and was ready to get to work!

 After watching me knead the dough for a moment, he couldn't resist and had to get his hands in there (yes we made him wash first!)

 Yep, its pretty fun! Except he wouldn't move his hands once they got in there.  He just let them sink in and get super sticky. 

 And eventually he looked like this!

 After getting the sticky dough off, we got it all rolled out and ready to cut.  

 Again lots and lots of fun!  Aunt Abbey had to help a little bit to make sure the dough got cut all the way through but he was a pretty good helper!

 And now we were ready to make the holes in the center.

After some instruction, Brycen had it down!

We had a fun evening and loved being together!    Thanks everyone for coming over and bringing delicious food to share!  We love you all!

Polls don't lie!

It seems as though my Aunt's "It's a Boy" and "It's a Girl" balloons as well as nearly everyone who participated in the poll were certain we would be having a boy and a girl.   Well, you all were right!   

Last Friday (September 9th) Adam and I got to go to our ultrasound to have a close look at our babies and find out just what we would be having.   It was so fun!    We told our parents that day, but told them they had to keep it a secret for a couple days.  On Saturday, we took a whole lot of cupcakes around to Adam's family to share the news.   I had always wanted to do a full gender reveal party, but ultimately I didn't feel like it and thought this would still be a fun way to share.   Since we really didn't get to tell most of his family ourselves that we were expecting, we wanted to do something fun.

We took some pictures along the way, but ultimately I got tired of dragging the camera out, so only the first few stops have pictures.    We told everyone that when they bit into the cupcake if the filling was blue that meant boys, pink for girls, or green for one of each. Here is some of our Family finding out the news!

But this one, she LOVED her cupcake and smiled the whole time eating it!   At this point she's just getting started on the frosting.   She was covered in chocolate once she finished the whole cupcake (as was the wall and the highchair).  Oh Miss Maryn you always steal the show!

A Summer Break

Last weekend we were able to go up to Idaho/Oregon to visit family and friends.    This was most likely to be our last visit by ourselves!  

We had a wonderful time, but unfortunately I didn't do a good job at pictures.  Half the time because I forgot and the other half because I just didn't feel like it!    The weather was gorgeous while we were there and I spent A LOT of time outside on back porches!  

One of my old roommates, Kaila, and her family let us stay the night at their house Wednesday when we got in late and entertained us for most of the day Thursday.   Kaila, her two girls and I all went to Aunt Kathy's school for haircuts.  I can't visit Boise without getting my free haircut!

The trip made me remember how wonderful my family and friends are.  Besides Kaila's family letting us crash at her house, another old roommate and friend, Mary picked us up and drove us all the way to Ontario, even though she had to turn around and drive right back!   She did it just so she could see us!    She was able to join us with my parents for Dinner at my favorite Chinese restaurant, Shanghai.  Oh YUM!!!   My Aunt Darlene joined us as well and it was good to see her!

On Friday we relaxed for most of the Morning and then I was able to meet up with two of my best high school friends, Annie and Margo for Ranch Hands at Burger West!  Again, YUM!!!   I am so sad I didn't get a picture of us there!  I even had my camera with me!  I am blaming pregnancy brain on that one.

My Grandparents Returned Friday afternoon from a week of Camping and Fishing.  Grandma had caught a rather large trout that we grilled up for dinner, it was SOOOO good!

On Saturday my wonderful family threw me a baby shower!  It was great to be able to see everyone and even have a few friends from high school come.   I managed to get exactly one picture!  

   This is my friend Annie and I, both pregnant!  She is about a trimester ahead of me, though I swear I am just about as big as she is!!   In case you can't tell, my shirt says "Future Broncos" and yes I made it!  I mean what's a pregnant girl supposed to do to show her Bronco Pride?

Saturday night tons of family piled into Grandma and Grandpa's living room to watch the BSU-UGA game.  It was sooo great!  Lots of good food, company and of course a Bronco victory!  The only thing that could have been better would have been if Utah State could have held the victory over Auburn, giving both my Alma Mater's wins over SEC teams.   Oh well, at least with USU and BSU in different conferences, I don't have to pick who to cheer for anymore!

We left Sunday, but did manage to get a few pictures before leaving.

Is it just me or does the shadow in these pictures make me look like my hair continues right into a beard??  What the heck!

The week before we also escaped the heat for a few days and headed to Flagstaff.  Again, I didnt' get too many pictures, but we did manage to get a few at the Cardinals training camp.

It was pretty fun to be able to be that close and see how a practice went.  It was a walk through with no pads, but still interesting!

Take a Guess!

On the subject of gender, my wonderful family held a baby shower for me up in Oregon/Idaho this weekend.   My Aunt was at the Dollar store trying to find balloons for decorations but everything said "its a boy" or "its a girl".   Since we don't know yet, she was having a hard time deciding what to get; she asked the clerk, "what do you do if you don't know the gender?"  The clerk was not helpful so my Aunt just said she would take one of each since its bound to be girls, boys or both!  The Clerk's answer?  "Are you sure?"   Um yep, pretty sure they will be some combination of boys and girls.  Seriously?  What else would they be???

So in the spirit of gender, I added a new poll to our blog, take a guess on what you think our twins will be!  We find out Friday, assuming they behave!  We can't wait!

Christmas in July

You may have noticed the lack of posts for the last couple of months. Well, I've been really busy "cooking" up an extra special (OK, a COUPLE extra special) Christmas in July surprises.  They have pretty much occupied all of my energy the last few months and I'd like to share them with you now.    Only, after all this work, they STILL aren't ready!     So here is a sneak peak....

Another baby blanket!

Here's the latest blanket I made for my newest nephew who will be coming in a few weeks!

This is a pretty horrible picture.  I was in a hurry to get it shipped off and didn't take the time to make sure the lighting was good, or better yet take it outside.   I was excited when I saw this quilt pattern because its so hard to find cute boy quilts!   I decided not to put any batting in it to make it more like a blanket.   But I line the back with super soft minky fabric so it will still be super comfy!

I miss the Pearl!

So this little lady called me today and left me a happy birthday message, complete with song and a BIG I love you!   I mean, seriously, how does that not make your day!

I only wish I could scoop her up right now and give her a big squeeze!

Early Birthday Present

So giddy about this one!  I have been asking and asking and begging and pleading for this for a LONG time!  Ever since I heard about it i HAD to have one!  I know its completely not a necessity, but I am so stinking excited that Adam finally broke down and got it for me!!!!

A Good Position

I'm not really a superstitious person.  I don't get all tied up in astrology or fortune telling.   But I will admit that I do enjoy a good fortune cookie and reading the fortunes is pretty fun. I have a coworker who frequents Panda Express and as he doesn't care for fortune cookies, I partake of one probably at least twice a month.  Most are ridiculous and cannot really even be called fortunes.   

A few months ago I even got a mean one!  Seriously, it said something to the affect that I needed to improve my exercise routine.  Really?   I screamed at the fortune - YOU DON'T KNOW ME!   I showed my co-workers and we all couldn't believe it actually said that.   OK, so what if it were true.  That's not the point!

However, the one I got a few weeks later made up for it, it was so good in fact I saved it an pinned it to my wall at work:

Now mind, you I had just recently posted for, interviewed and then been turned down for a position at work.  But one must always have hope!  

Somewhere around that same time our VP of our Department announced a whole bunch of new band 35 positions.  Currently I am a band 30, my title being Financial Analyst 1.   I have basically had the same job since I have been at American Express.   Moving to a band 35 would be an AWESOME move.  So of course I applied!  There were actually 3 different types of positions opened and multiple positions within 2 of those.  I applied for 2 of the 3; all are manager level positions, but only 1 is an actual people leader manager (I didn't apply for this one).   The competition was pretty stiff, there were 6 positions that eventually got filled and 27 applicants!  Most just within our department!   

It was pretty nerve racking, especially when I received a second interview, and seemingly no one else did (only 3 did).  What did that mean?  Were they on the fence about me?  

Well finally the day arrived and we started to get notified - and Woohoo!  The fortune came true (every part of it!)     My new title is Manager - Rating Utility... or something like that... I really don't know the official title, but essentially I am in a similar function, but instead of analyzing a credit and determining a line size, I will be analyzing for a Risk Rating.

I am super excited, the team I will be working with is great and full of very bright people.    Some of you often ask why I don't blog about my job, and well that's because nothing has really changed in the last 3 years.  Its pretty much been the same.  So now here is your official update!

New outfits for my (baby) nieces!

I had to clarify they were for my baby nieces becuase unfortunately I didn't have enough material to make an outfit for Sadie too.     Sorry Sadie!  Aunt Abbey promises to have something special for you too soon!!!

I had so much fun making these little oufits! The material originally started out as a skirt for me, and well that failed, but I couldn't let it go to waist so I turned it into something for my nieces!  Then I couldn't stop there and had to make the hair bows, those are my fav - love em!   And then I got the bright idea to applique the flower from the fabric onto onesies.   Ah, gotta love a complete outfit.    Seriously, not that I mean to brag, but so super cute.  And of course it was WAY cuter on my nieces (need a picture of that.. hint hint!!)
