Assistance Required

Ok, whats the first thing you notice about this picture?

OK, so maybe not so obvious at first, but what if I point it out to you

Thats right, big, bare wall.  Oh help me!   We just got a new couch, which i love... But based on where its at in the room, the first thing you notice when you walk in is a big empty space of nothing.   So I need help... what should I do there?

Should I put in a plant?

How about flowers?

Or wall art?

OK, all those examples were ugly on purpose (fun with photoshop!).   I really don't know what to do there.  I need your help!  Please anyone have any ideas?    And if you have a specific idea with a link I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see it!  Who knows your interior designing skills may end up in my living room for all to see!

Just so you have an idea, the couch is rounded so there is  some space between it and the wall.

Its big enough that you could put a stand, corner shelf, lamp or whatever.     So now that you know what to work with, please help me!!!

What we did this weekend...

In addition to the typical weekend household chores, this is what we accomplished:

Canned 12 quarts of Salsa

Random Organizing.  I went to The Container Store... It was my first time, and well I got a little crazy!  The whole time I debated, ask permission first, or forgiveness later, in the end I went with forgiveness later!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this rack!  Since we don't have a real pantry, we turned our coat closet (cause really who needs a coat closet in AZ) into one and this cleaned up stuff so much.

Also grabbed a bunch of magnetic containers to hold some of my most used spices (I discovered many that I had 3 containers of because I was almost out, bought a new one and then forgot I bought a new one and bought another!  Well no more!  All right there for me to view on the Fridge!)

Baked 2 1/2 dozen cupckaes... from scratch.. not one, but TWO kinds with not two but THREE types of frosting!

First ones were more practicing for the state fair cupcake contest - Orange Creamcicle Cupcakes! Orange cupcakes with orange and cream cheese swirled frosting.  The second was a first, completely Vegan Cupcakes!  My bro in law has a food sensitivity to dairy so I made these for him to eat.  Chocolate Cupcake with Strawberry frosting.  They were actually good and the frosting was amazing!

Went to our Sacrament meeting this handsom young man was sustained as a counselor in our Bishopric; then got to hear him be ordained to be a High Priest and set apart in the Bishopric.

Then RACED to Mesa for another Sacrament meeting where this little lady was blessed.
And our big weekend project, Kitchen Cabinet Painting!

Heres the boring before pictures
And here is the After!

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!   We painted the walls red about a  year ago, but didn't do the cabinets because I couldn't bring myself to since they were new when we moved in.  Well, I finally decided they had to go!   So happy with the way it turned out!

What a great weekend!

A Reveal

Remember this??

Well I finally turned it all into this!

So in love with it! I had plenty extra to make pillow case and throw pillows. I love the way it brightens up our room and the little bit of blue in the fabric makes the walls pop more!

Resourcesfullness!

Forget hints from Heloise, bring on super duper useful hints from Abbey! OK, so it might not be so useful to most people, because lets face it, most of you probably have a decent vacuum. And those of you who don't probably at least have good carpet. Well, unfortunately we have neither. So what happens on a Friday night when your trying to clean and you can't get these stupid green fibers left over from your roommates Halloween costumes off the floor? You say to your roommate "Hey Mary, do you think if I put duct tape on my feet and stomped around it would come up" "Yeah probably, " she says. So I think about it some more and finally decide to give it a shot. So here are my handy dandy instructions for removing crappy fibers that are ground into crappy carpet:

Step 1: Wrap your foot in tape. OK, so I was hoping for duct tape, but I had to resort to whatever I could find. Oh and make sure you have scissors in hand.

Step 2: Stomp all over the floor. Hint -Stay on your tiptoes where there isn't stuff you want to pick up.

Step 3: Check out all the stuff you've picked up! If the tape starts not to stick anymore, start over at Step 1.
