Passports!

In preparation for our trip to the Dominican Republic we went to get passports.   Saturday was a special passport day where there were several places open catering to families - since both parents have to be there in person to sign documents.   We did have to drive a ways, but it worked out great really.   We went to the library in Cave Creek, it was a seriously great little library.  It was so clean, nice and the children's play area was so cool.  Charlie and Adella loved it!  I so wish the library close to us was that nice.

Anyway, so it was a bit of an adventure figuring out how to take their pics and not have us in them - they are too big for the baby seat and too small for the adult seat and if we held them it was hard not to be in the picture too.   Luckily this other family getting their passports told us a trick, you hold your kid on your shoulders!  It seriously works perfect!  So if you are ever in need, remember that trick!  You are out of the picture, they think it's fun to be on your shoulders.  Win win!

As we were leaving I was kinda sad I didn't take any pictures of the big event, but then remembered that we got extra copies of the pictures we took!  So BAM! Documented!

Strange

I feel like I can never figure out what to feed my kids.  They like something one time and then not the next, and then later they will like it again.  Lately getting veggies in has been rougher, especially green veggies.  So I was shocked when I put some asparagus on Adella's tray that she gobbled it up as fast as she could!  She ate FOUR stalks all by herself (in addition to some other food).  Charlie on the other had wouldn't touch it.  He was too into his spicy sweet potato fries.

FIVE!

We don't get much into big elaborate celebrations around here, but we did have a meaningful and fun anniversary celebration.

This picture really does not do the size of this thing justice!   For our anniversary I wanted to get a cake like we had at our reception.  We served tres leches cake and since the baker was a friend of the family I was able to get one!   Only problem was they only make one size HUGE!   I mean REALLY REALLY HUGE!  But it was delicious and fun to do something special for our anniversary!

We also had a friend come over and babysit - we put the kids to bed first and just hoped they would stay asleep till we get back!  Luckily they did (OK, well they woke up and laughed at each other for a few minutes but didn't cry so that was awesome!)  We went to the Brazilion Bull for dinner and it was delish!

This was our first dinner date in, well I don't even know how many months!  Honestly it might have been our last anniversary since we went out at night - most of our dates have been afternoon dates so no one has to worry about putting our kids down for bed (because that is just plain scary!).  Plus afternoon seems to be when we can find the cheapest sitters (ie free!).

I love that our anniversary coincides with tulips blooming.  They are my favorite flower and what we had for our wedding.  Adam didn't disappoint!

Happy Five Years Adam!  Love you!

What we're into

Lately playing with the blinds and looking out the window has been big.

I mean, really doesn't that looks like fun?

Juicing

Last week Adam and I did a three day juice fast.  It wasn't awful, but wasn't the most fun either!  I can handle spinach and celery and pretty much every fruit but cucumbers aren't my favorite so I had a hard time drinking it at times.   We also did some with beets because Adam likes beets and it sounded good enough... um yeah, it tasted like dirt.  Adam thought it was delicious but I just had to chug it!   I don't know that I really felt all that different from doing it, but I will say that I didn't crash in the afternoon and get super tired so that was awesome!  We plan to keep juicing several times a week because it's just about the easiest way to get more veggies into our diet.
